Pre-Trip to Wisconsin’s Door County

Thanks for scouting us out again… Remember to read the “about” at the top of the page- it’s explains why we are doing all this with great honor 🙂

Alright, it’s almost the 4th of July Weekend and we are preparing to go to Door County.  This is an important weekend for us to play because we didn’t get to go to Iowa due to our beloved accordion playing Uncle Harry being honored with a funeral service. Uncle Harry deserves mention here because he was a WI Army Vet.  Thanks for serving Uncle Harry! We will dedicate this ride to you!

We will begin on Friday morning and head up to door County to go to the Pipka Gallery (they make beautiful Santa ornaments- I just love the one my honey gave me a while back).  Then we will check into our hotel:  Coachlite Inn in Sister Bay, and head over to Pelletiers for an authentic Fish Boil Dinner (our first).  Not sure what will happen on Saturday- perhaps we will go for a hike at Bailey’s Harbor’s The Ridges Sanctuary.  We hear they have a rare emerald dragonfly who grants its presence to folks from time to time.  Other than that, who knows?!?!?

We will post an update of our Trip Adventure (click on the categories button on the right to see all our goodies we want to share with you). Also, some of you are curious how to pledge for the miles we are riding. Stay tuned- next week the pledge sheets will be posted on the blog for you to fill out.  We appreciate you supporting The Highgrounds via your pledges for our mileage!

Unfortunately this will be a quick getaway for us as we have a couple wonderful family events to attend on the 4th of July.  Happy Birthday America- Let YOUR Freedom Ring Loud!

Building our Site to Share our Experiences

We are delighted to share all the goodness that is occurring at the Highground in Neillsville, WI.

Over the next two weeks we will be building our site to share with you! We will include a riding log and photos of our rides, as well as what is occurring at The Highground. We welcome your comments regarding support of Wisconsin, all Veterans, Harley Riders supporting our Vets, and The Highground Veteran Memorial Park of Wisconsin.

Over the July 4th Weekend we will be riding to Door County and next week we will have some wonderful photos (now that we have an awesome new camera) and a story about our ride. We are so honored to serve in this manner! Happy Birthday America!

Welcome to We Ride for WI Vets!  We are here to serve.  And we are new to this Blog stuff, so please be patient with us as we add all the goodies we need to for our little site here 🙂

We (SSgt. Chris Mongan, USMC and the Mrs., Maggie Mongan) are riding our Harley for WI’s Vets this year because “Some gave all and all gave some”. We ride to create awareness and donations for the non-profit organization: The Highgrounds … www.thehighground.org, which is a Veteran Memorial Park for all Wisconsinites who have serve our country.

We ride with pride and honor. This blog is dedicated to sharing our experiences so you and others may become familiar with The Highgrounds and support their efforts. If you are interested in learning more and how you can make a donation or pledge for the miles we ride this year… please be patient with us- we will have the pledge sheets up within the week, or if you want to call us, we can get a pledge sheet in the mail to you: 262-716-7750.  Soon, we will have everything here.

Wow! We are so thrilled to learn about this blog stuff so we can have everyone sharing in the fun, learning more about the Highgrounds, and seeing photos of our fine riding experiences. Please share this blog with everyone who might be interested. Our goal is to create awareness and support for the Highground and raise over $500 USD for the park this year.
